Young Coders
A playful introduction to computational thinking for curious minds aged 5 to 8.
Where Curiosity Becomes Code
Young Coders is designed for children who are naturally curious about how things work. Rather than sitting behind screens for hours, our youngest learners alternate between tablet-based activities, hands-on building, guided puzzles and creative expression. Every session is structured to feel like play while quietly developing the logical reasoning, sequencing and pattern-recognition skills that form the bedrock of computer science.
The program follows a six-month rolling cycle, which means new students can join at the start of any month. Each cycle covers all four pillars of the curriculum — ScratchJr, logic puzzles, LEGO robotics and digital art — so every child receives a complete and balanced experience regardless of when they begin.
Four Pillars of Learning
ScratchJr
Children create animated stories and simple games using the block-based ScratchJr interface on tablets. They learn sequencing, cause-and-effect, and basic programming logic without needing to read or type complex code.
Logic Puzzles
Through board games, card-based challenges and unplugged activities, students develop problem decomposition and algorithmic thinking. These sessions train children to break large problems into small, manageable steps.
LEGO Robotics
Using LEGO Education kits, students build motorised models and programme them with simple instructions. They discover how sensors, motors and gears work together, gaining a tangible understanding of input, process and output.
Digital Art
Children explore colour, shape and composition using age-appropriate drawing apps. They design characters, backgrounds and icons that they later incorporate into their ScratchJr projects, connecting creativity with technology.
How It Works
Duration
Six-month rolling cycle. New students can join at the start of any month. Each weekly session lasts 90 minutes, giving young learners enough time to explore without fatigue.
Class Size
A maximum of six students per class, with one lead instructor and one teaching assistant. This ratio ensures every child receives hands-on guidance and encouragement throughout the session.
Schedule
Sessions are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 09:30 to 11:00. Parents can choose their preferred day during enrolment. Our KL campus provides a comfortable waiting area for parents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my child too young for a coding program?
Not at all. Young Coders is specifically designed for five- to eight-year-olds. We use visual tools like ScratchJr and physical kits like LEGO robotics, which require no reading or typing skills. Activities are guided, hands-on and highly interactive. Our instructors are experienced in early childhood education and adapt the pace to each child. Many parents are surprised at how quickly their children grasp sequencing and logic concepts when they are presented through play.
Can parents stay during the session?
Yes. Our campus has a dedicated parents' lounge on the same floor with complimentary Wi-Fi and refreshments. For the first two sessions, parents are welcome to sit in the classroom to help their child settle in. After the adjustment period, we encourage children to attend independently so they can build confidence and engage fully with their peers and instructors.
What happens after the six-month cycle?
Students who complete one cycle can either re-enrol for a second cycle with new projects and challenges, or graduate to the Junior Tech Academy if they are aged seven or above. We assess each child individually and provide a recommendation to parents at the end of the cycle. Many families choose to continue for a second round before transitioning, as the variety of projects ensures the experience never feels repetitive.
